Ahmad Alhindi joined the Constraint Satisfaction and Optimization Laboratory, School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering, University of Essex as a PhD student in January 2011. He was supervised by Professor Qingfu Zhang. before he was supervised by Professor Edward Tsang from January 2014, after Professor Zhang paid an extended visit to City University, Hong Kong.

Ahmad Alhindi works on extending the state-of-the-art multi-objective optimization algorithm MOEA/D. He showed that by using the principles of various local search methods, performance of MOEA/D can be improved.

Ahmad Alhindi passed his PhD on 24 March 2015. He was examined by Qiang Shen (External Examiner, University of Aberystwyth) and Martin Reed (Internal Examiner).
