Olsen & Associates is a research company in finance. We believe that technology will completely change the way that market operates. Technology will also completely change the way that research is conducted.
Financial crises, such as the one in 2007-2008, cause social turmoil. Everyone in the world pays for it, in one way or another. It is in everybody's interest to gain better understanding of how markets work and how they fail.
Currently research is fragmented: there is a limit in how much an individual laboratory could do to advance knowledge. Collective research is the best way to go, as Wikipedia demonstrated. We propose to build a Wiki-like platform to enable researchers from different disciplines to work with each other. Like Wikipedia, this platform will completely change the way that research is conducted. It will also significantly accelerate research progress. Financial markets will become more stable as a result of better understanding.
Unlike Wikipedia, the proposed system will be a repository of computer programs. Contributors may supply programs that could help others to anayse data, visualize data or model financial markets. Moreover, this will be a repository of market data, both historical and live. Historical data will enable researchers to repeat experiments. Live data will enable researchers to test algorithms. With this setup, researchers will be able to make use of each others' programs to study the market together. They can also support their findings with experiments that others can repeat, as researchers do in physics, chemistry and biology. This platform will help to turn market science into a hard science.
We believe that everyone can win from our research project. Most people would benefit from financial markets being more stable. Investors will benefit from a more stable market, because risk is eventually paid for by investors. When there are potential benefits, business opportunities will arise. The more technologically advanced a business is, the more it will benefit from new opportunities.
Olsen & Associates is built upon extensive research experience. Some of the main contributors to this research are:
